Epic Games is preparing to take Fortnite servers offline for the launch of Chapter 6, Season 2. The upcoming Fortnite update 34.00 will roll out across PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android devices on February 21. However, players won’t be able to access the new content until server maintenance is completed, which is expected to take longer than usual.
Fortnite servers will go offline at 7am GMT (UK time), with matchmaking being disabled shortly before. If you want to squeeze in one last game before the downtime, make sure to join a match before 6:30am.
Epic Games confirmed the maintenance schedule on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Welcome to Crime City! Downtime for v34.00 begins at 2 AM ET, with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”
For UK players, this means the game will go offline at 7am GMT, with matchmaking shutting down at 6:30am. While Epic hasn’t provided an exact end time for the downtime, previous season launches have typically taken around 3-4 hours, so Fortnite could be back online by 10am GMT at the earliest.
Due to the extended downtime, it’s difficult to predict the exact time servers will return, so be sure to keep checking for updates.
In terms of new content, Chapter 6, Season 2 introduces a Crime City map, complete with new Points of Interest (POIs) like an underground goldmine, bank vaults, the Baron's Mansion, and a train perfect for heists. The Battle Pass includes a new Midas variant, along with Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat. Scorpion will also be added to the item shop at a later date.
Other exciting features include the ability to rob Money Vans and vaults, as well as use the Rocket Drill to break through walls. Keep an eye on Daily Express for further updates as downtime begins on February 21.
